Project Description

This New Jersey Transit train station connects the Atlantic City Rail Line and the PATCO system.  Prior to renovation it was a simple concrete slab.  The extensive upgrades included a new enclosed passenger waiting area and an extended platform.

Interior lighting, wiring and controls for HVAC and a fire alarm system were installed in the new climate controlled waiting area.  All power to the new electric room was brought in and included both a 200 and 400 amp electric service with normal and standby panels.  Rigid conduit for telecommunications and surface mounted lighting were installed in the tunnel under the PATCO line.  Exterior work included site lighting on pole lights on the newly extended platform and placement of a standby generator in the adjacent yard area.

One difficult aspect of the job was the requirement that the station remain in service throughout construction.  The persistent flow of commuters made planning and coordination crucial to the timely completion of the project.

The renovated station is now a much more comfortable and safe facility for passengers accessing these busy transit systems.
