Railroad Construction Company, Inc. was recently award a $1,910,000 contract by the Metropolitan Transit Authority Capital Construction (MTACC) for track work at East Side Access Harold Interlocking in Long Island City, NY. This Long Island Railroad project will provide infrastructure improvements to one of the busiest areas for rail traffic in the country: over 700 cars are moved through this interlocking daily.
Approximately 1,200’ of new track and 2,400’ of new trackbed will be constructed. Demolition work will include the removal and salvage of 2,300’ of track as panels, removal and demolition of 1,300’ of track, and demolition of 300’ of retaining wall and signal trough.
